Portrait of a Graduate
In 2014, FCPS adopted the Portrait of a Graduate to answer this question: What are the skills necessary for success for all children in this rapidly changing, increasingly diverse, and interconnected world? Portrait of a Graduate moves FCPS students and staff members to look beyond the high-stakes testing environment and to help our students develop skills so they can be successful in the workforce of the future.
Daniels Run Library
The Daniels Run Library provides rich media experiences for all learners. From print text to digital resources students have opportunities to explore, research and read engaging stories from authors from around the world.
Students are taught how to use a variety of strategies to develop ideas and to plan for artmaking. They are exposed to the world of art through the introduction of recognized artworks and artists.
Science / Technology
Exploring our world with science and technology gives students a chance to pose questions and provide answers.
Our Innovation Space provides students and teachers a chance to explore engineering and technology.
Each student at Daniels Run has general music twice a week. Students sing, play instruments, dance, respond to music with movement, improvise and compose. Each student is challenged to become tuneful, beat full and artful through songs, games, activities, dances, projects and exercises.
Hour Of Code
Building our technology skills one hour at a time. Daniels Run students take time to learn about coding.
The health and physical education program is designed to teach students the skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential to live a healthy lifestyle and select healthy and safe behaviors.
In today's society, it is essential that students become creative and critical thinkers; are able to collaborate, create, and effectively communicate; and are responsible, self-directed, global citizens. Technology tools are intrinsic to developing these characteristics and essential to creating and providing an instructional experience relevant to every students future.
