Music
Each student at Daniels Run has general music twice a week. Students sing, play instruments, dance, respond to music with movement, improvise and compose. Each student is challenged to become tuneful, beat full and artful through songs, games, activities, dances, projects and exercises. Students learn about a different composer each month. Some other highlights during the year are: Thanksgiving Day Luncheon Chorus Performance, Kindergarten Gingerbread Man Performance, The First Grade Musical, Music In Our School Month Informances, the International Day Assembly, Folk Dancing at Field Day, and Success Day Singing Performances,
Students in 4th-6th Grade are also given the opportunity to take strings. Students in 5th-6th grade are given the opportunity to play a band instrument. Students in 5th & 6th Grade students may also join the 5th or 6th Grade chorus. Band, strings and chorus rehearsals are during the school day. There are also several before/after school choral ensemble opportunities for Grades 5-6 including: Fairfax High School Elementary School Honor Choir, Daniels Run Singers and All County Choral Festival.
Our vision is to build a school community in which the power of music heals, humanizes and enriches the lives of our students.
