English Language Arts |
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in English Language Arts. |
Goal: 100% of students on grade level will meet their end of year growth goal on the iReady assessment and 100% of students below grade level will meet their end of year stretch growth goal on the iReady assessment. |
Strategy 1: Provide daily, systematic, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology in the core language arts block (Tier 1) and implement high-leverage, evidence-based practices aligned to the science of reading to improve all students’ ability to decode and build vocabulary. |
Strategy 2: Use evidence-based intervention resources aligned to the Science of Reading to provide literacy intervention (HB 1865). (Tier 2/3) |
Strategy 3:Develop strong oral language skills for all students and especially those receiving ESOL services. |
Mathematics |
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics. |
Goal: 100% of students on grade level will meet their end of year growth goal on the iReady assessment and 100% of students below grade level will meet their end of year stretch growth goal on the iReady assessment. |
Strategy 1: Improve Tier 1 best practices and small group instruction. Grade level teams will utilize Math CLT block to effectively plan for an enriching math workshop block. ESOL teachers will collaborate with classroom teachers to support language learners within small groups. Teachers will reflect on math workshop practices using a rubric and set goals. |
Strategy 2: Implement targeted reteaching and intervention groups |
Strategy 3: Develop the home-school connection by providing resources/manipulatives and games to reinforce the intervention at school. |
Wellness |
Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment. |
Goal: By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, our school will utilize Morning Meeting effectively to teach self-management subskills increasing schoolwide scores on the self-management topic of the SEL Screener by 10% from Fall SEL Screener to the Spring Screener on the Panorama Survey. |
Strategy 1: Implement schoolwide teaching and review of emotional regulation concepts and vocabulary for all students. Introduce specific self-regulation strategies during morning meeting ( 30 min every day) |
Strategy 2: The Wellness Team will lead Tier 2 small groups for students that need intervention in emotional regulation. |
Strategy 3: Build relationships with communities, families and teachers |
Portrait of a Graduate (POG) |
Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26. |
Goal: By the end of the 2022-2023 school year 100% of students in grades K, 1, 3,4, and 6 will demonstrate increased understanding of a selected POG attribute as reported on a student survey at the beginning and end of the year. By the end of the 2022-2023 school year 100% of students in Grades 2 and 5 will complete a POG POL in which they reflect on growth of a selected POG attribute. The POG POL will be scored using the FCPS POG POL rubric. |
Strategy 1: The 2nd and 5th grade teams will participate in professional learning to deepen their understanding of POG. This year we expanded POG POL to 2nd grade. |
Strategy 2: Teachers will strengthen their knowledge of POG so they can better teach students about each attribute. Each year a new grade level will |
