The Global Classroom Project

Daniels Run ES  is a Global Classroom Project School!

The Global Classroom project at Daniels Run ES is a great opportunity for teachers and students alike to learn more about another culture in the world. Our participating teachers Grace Yi ( 3rd Grade), Meagan Oris ( 5th Grade ) and Mrs. Huberman-Hayes  ( Science / Technology ) work in concert with teachers from the Confucius Institute to familiarize students about the culture of China. Centering our focus around sustainability has given students and teachers the opportunity to learn more about preserving our resources as they learn more about the Chinese culture.  With every lesson taught our students reinforce their Portrait of a Graduate skills and build their knowledge base of the cultural aspects of China.

The Global Classroom Project is a collaborative project between PreK-12 Curriculum and Instruction and ESOL Services where schools throughout the FCPS partner with schools around the world. We have identified 5 pathways for a global classroom which include: STEAM, Sustainability, Language Acquisition, Cultural Proficiency and Content Enrichment. Teachers build their global partnership based on a foundation of equity and shared experiences to design authentic learning experiences for their students. Our vision is for students to learn what it means to live in an interconnected world and develop attributes of the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate.
