Congratulations to Mr. Paul Yu on his recognition as the January 2023 FCPS CARES Region 5 Recipient of the Month, presented by the FCPS Department of Human Resources.

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story below, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.

Below is the write-up submitted by our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Sara Van Aalst.

Mr. Paul Yu is always in the right place at the right time! On a daily basis, Mr. Yu is observed filling in the space to help others. Here are just a few examples of his collaborative spirit: At the beginning of the year, our building was evacuated before the school day began. Students were arriving for the day, and we needed a system to keep everyone safe. Mr. Yu immediately approached me and asked, how can I help? I handed him a pen and directions for parking buses in a nearby park, and Mr. Yu sprang into action. He greeted buses, maintained an accurate account of arrivals, directed traffic in the parking lot, and provided timely updates to the administrative team. Mr. Yu’s actions were paramount in ensuring a safe and orderly arrival for our bus drivers and riders. One day last month, during breakfast, the registers in the cafeteria were not working. A long line of students was forming as students verbally gave their names to the cafeteria manager. As I approached the cafeteria line, I immediately noticed that Mr. Yu was in action. He was working alongside the cafeteria manager to gather student names and make a note of purchases. His smile and calm voice helped everyone have a great start to the day. Mr. Yu generously gives his time to help our school community. He truly exemplifies “FCPS Cares” in his daily work. I am extremely grateful for Mr. Paul Yu.
